Alex Moreau is part of the Moreau family of Chassagne Montrachet, working alongside his father Bernard Moreau before establishing his own label and style. Based in the heart of the village, he draws on deep rooted family holdings across some of Chassagne’s most respected sites, with a focus on precise, site driven Chardonnay. Farming is carried out with a strong emphasis on sustainability and vineyard health, and in the cellar his approach is measured and exacting, favouring gentle pressing, controlled fermentations and élevage designed to balance richness with tension. The wines are known for their clarity, mineral precision and quietly layered structure, sitting firmly within a modern but classically grounded Burgundian style.

This Chassagne Montrachet village cuvée is drawn from a selection of parcels across the appellation, typically rooted in limestone rich soils with varying clay influence that bring both structure and mid palate depth. Moreau works with a restrained hand, using gentle pressing and fermentation in barrel to build texture while preserving purity. Elevage on fine lees is carefully managed to add breadth without sacrificing tension. The wine shows lemon zest, white peach and ripe pear, layered with hazelnut, subtle spice and a fine chalky minerality. The palate is structured yet supple, with balanced acidity and a long, precise finish that reflects both the generosity and mineral backbone of Chassagne.
