Michel Gonet is a historic family house in the Côte des Blancs, tracing its roots back to the early 1800s. Today, Sophie Gonet oversees the estate with a focus on purity and precision, crafting Chardonnay-led expressions that reflect the limestone-rich soils of Grand Cru villages such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The vineyards span around 40 hectares, and the house follows sustainable practices with minimal intervention, producing wines that emphasise vibrant acidity, fine mousse, and a clear sense of terroir.
A mature Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from Michel Gonet, made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from old vines in Les Hautes Mottes, a parcel in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The grapes are grown on the village's renowned chalky soils and fermented at low temperatures before spending at least ten years ageing on the lees.
The 2010 combines ripe pear, quince and preserved citrus with developed notes of brioche, toasted almond and honey. The palate is rich and finely textured, with a delicate mousse, remarkable freshness and pronounced chalky minerality. Complex and structured, with a long, saline finish that balances the richness gained from extended ageing.
