Thibault Liger-Belair took over the family domaine in 2001, re-establishing a historic Nuits-Saint-Georges estate whose roots trace back several generations within one of Burgundy’s most recognised families. While distinct from the Vosne-Romanée branch of the Liger-Belair lineage, Thibault has built his domaine with a clear, independent identity, steadily expanding holdings through both inheritance and carefully selected parcels. Today the estate spans key sites across the Côte de Nuits and Beaujolais, reflecting his dual focus on Pinot Noir and Gamay, and his interest in expressing site across different terroirs. He farms organically, with biodynamic principles increasingly informing vineyard work, and places strong emphasis on vine health, soil vitality, and precise harvest timing. In the cellar, his approach is deliberate and restrained, often incorporating whole bunch fermentation, favouring gentle extraction, and adapting élevage to each cuvée to balance structure with clarity of fruit and terroir expression.

Les Beaux Bruns sits on deeper, more clay influenced soils on the lower slopes of Chambolle-Musigny, giving a wine of greater breadth and structure compared to higher altitude sites in the village. Liger-Belair works with a measured proportion of whole bunch fermentation and a careful, slow extraction to build texture without losing precision. The result is a Chambolle with more depth and grounding, showing ripe red and dark cherry fruit, subtle spice and earth, with a slightly firmer tannic frame that is still finely grained. The finish remains poised and lifted, balancing the site’s natural richness with freshness and control.
