Stéphane Magnien is based in Morey Saint Denis and represents a family domaine with deep roots in the Cote de Nuits, working a small but focused range of appellations across Gevrey Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis and Chambolle Musigny. The estate is built around careful parcel selection and traditional Burgundian winemaking, with an emphasis on vineyard precision and restrained cellar intervention. Magnien tends to favour fruit clarity and site expression over extraction or overt oak influence, with farming that prioritises healthy soils, balanced yields and harvest timing that preserves freshness. The style across the domaine leans toward classical structure with an understated approach to elevage, allowing each terroir to speak without excess handling in the cellar.

Les Athets is a Chambolle Musigny village site situated on limestone dominant soils with fine clay components that bring both aromatic lift and a subtle underlying structure. The vineyard sits in a transitional position within the appellation, producing wines that combine the typical Chambolle perfume with a touch more depth and mid palate presence than higher slope parcels. In this cuvee, Magnien works with a gentle extraction and a proportion of whole bunch fermentation to enhance floral detail and precision. Elevage is carried out in barrel with a restrained use of new oak to maintain purity and site transparency. The wine shows red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry fruit, lifted by violet florals, fine spice and a delicate mineral thread. The palate is poised and finely textured, with silky tannins and a long, elegant finish shaped by limestone freshness and aromatic clarity.
