Franck Peillot is a fifth-generation winemaker in Montagnieu, a village nestled in the Bugey region of eastern France. Since taking over his family's estate in 1985, Franck has focused on reviving the area's traditional grape varieties, particularly Altesse (also known as Roussette), Mondeuse, and Chardonnay. His vineyards, covering approximately 6.5 hectares, are situated on steep, limestone-rich slopes, which he farms sustainably. In the cellar, Franck employs native yeast fermentations and minimal intervention techniques to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of Bugey. His still and sparkling wines are celebrated for their purity, elegance, and expression of alpine character.

Montagnieu’s steep limestone slopes give this sparkling wine its distinct energy and poise. Franck Peillot blends Altesse, Mondeuse, and Chardonnay to produce a méthode traditionnelle wine of fine texture and striking clarity. Aromas of citrus peel, alpine herbs, and orchard fruit give way to a palate that’s taut and mineral, with a persistent mousse and bright acidity. Aged on lees for depth and finesse, it’s an elegant, precise expression of Bugey’s high-altitude terroir.
