Maison Deux Montille is the négociant and white wine focused extension of Domaine de Montille, created by Étienne de Montille and his sister Alix de Montille. Based in Volnay, the project was originally established to expand access to high quality white Burgundy from across the Côte de Beaune and Mâconnais, while maintaining the same philosophy of organic farming, careful vineyard selection and restrained cellar intervention. Although best known for Chardonnay, the range also includes a small number of Pinot Noir cuvées sourced from trusted growers and carefully selected parcels, vinified with the same precision and focus on purity of expression as the domaine wines.

This Bourgogne Rouge is sourced from selected Pinot Noir parcels in the Côte de Beaune, typically from organically farmed vineyards that fall outside the domaine’s core holdings but are chosen for their clarity of fruit and structural potential. The style reflects the Deux Montille philosophy of restraint and transparency, aiming to present a clean, finely detailed expression of Pinot Noir rather than overt richness. Fermentation is carried out with partial whole cluster inclusion depending on vintage, using gentle extraction to preserve aromatic lift and freshness. Elevage takes place in French oak barrels with a modest proportion of new oak, allowing the wine to develop texture without masking its fruit definition. The wine shows red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry, with floral notes, subtle spice and a lightly earthy, mineral undertone. The palate is supple and precise, with fine tannins and a fresh, linear finish.
