Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini 2018
Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini
The crisis of the 1930s forced Poles to emigrate towards France, a host nation that was desperately lacking in labour force. Jan Heresztyn arrived in 1932 in the north of France to work in the mines, then in the fields… in Burgundy. He ended by setting up definitively in Gevrey-Chambertin, feeling better accepted there than in other villages of La Côte. Through hard work and savings, he started acquiring a few parcels of vines and, by 1959, he ended up with 4 hectares.
Jan’s two sons, Stanislas and Bernard, gradually enlarged the business to finally become Domaine Heresztyn. Since the 1970s, they have managed it with their respective wives, Ewa and Chantal. Two generations have passed since the beginning of the domain. Florence, daughter of Stanislas, will represent the third, supported by her husband, Simon Mazzini, also a vine-grower in Champagne.
Easy to drink, fruity, with a gourmet, crisp side. The result is deliciously seductive.
