Thibault Liger-Belair took over the family domaine in 2001, re-establishing a historic Nuits-Saint-Georges estate whose roots trace back several generations within one of Burgundy’s most recognised families. While distinct from the Vosne-Romanée branch of the Liger-Belair lineage, Thibault has built his domaine with a clear, independent identity, steadily expanding holdings through both inheritance and carefully selected parcels. Today the estate spans key sites across the Côte de Nuits and Beaujolais, reflecting his dual focus on Pinot Noir and Gamay, and his interest in expressing site across different terroirs. He farms organically, with biodynamic principles increasingly informing vineyard work, and places strong emphasis on vine health, soil vitality, and precise harvest timing. In the cellar, his approach is deliberate and restrained, often incorporating whole bunch fermentation, favouring gentle extraction, and adapting élevage to each cuvée to balance structure with clarity of fruit and terroir expression.

Les Charmes is a Bourgogne Chardonnay sourced from limestone and clay rich parcels that provide both aromatic lift and a supple mid palate texture. The site typically yields fruit with bright natural acidity and a fine mineral backbone, allowing for a precise and focused expression of Chardonnay. Liger Belair works the cuvée with a restrained hand, using gentle pressing followed by fermentation in barrel and extended lees ageing to build texture while preserving clarity. The wine shows citrus oil, green apple and white peach, alongside subtle floral notes, crushed stone and a faint hazelnut tone. The palate is linear yet gently textured, with fine acidity and a clean, saline driven finish that reflects the limestone influence of the terroir.
