Domaine Tawse is a Beaune based Burgundy estate founded in 2006 by Canadian entrepreneur Moray Tawse, who built the domaine through the acquisition of high quality vineyard holdings across both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The project was established with the ambition of operating at the top tier of Burgundy, assembling an extensive range of Premier and Grand Cru sites across appellations including Gevrey Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Nuits Saint Georges, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny Montrachet and Beaune. From the outset, the philosophy has centred on precision viticulture, with organic and biodynamic principles applied throughout the vineyards alongside strict yield control, rigorous sorting and highly selective harvesting. Winemaking is overseen by Pascal Marchand, whose influence brings a disciplined, low intervention approach shaped by his long experience in Burgundy, favouring whole berry fermentation where appropriate, gentle extraction and long élevage in French oak to preserve clarity, structure and site expression across the range.

Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons is one of the more structured and classical Premier Cru sites of Beaune, located on mid slope vineyards where limestone rich soils with clay influence produce wines with both depth and firmness. Compared to some of the more perfumed or immediately generous Beaune Premier Crus, Teurons is known for its more serious profile, often showing greater tannic backbone and ageing potential while still retaining the red fruited charm typical of the commune. In Tawse’s hands, the fruit is carefully selected and vinified with controlled extraction to preserve clarity and avoid excess weight, allowing the site’s structure to integrate naturally with the fruit. Elevage takes place in French oak barrels with a restrained proportion of new oak, supporting balance without dominating the wine. The wine shows red cherry, raspberry and cranberry, with subtle spice, violet florals and a fine earthy mineral undertone. The palate is structured and finely composed, with firm but polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, measured finish that reflects both the seriousness of the site and the precision driven approach of the domaine.
