Jacques Puffeney, affectionately known as "Le Pape d'Arbois," retired after his 52nd vintage in 2014, selling most of his vineyards to Domaine du Pélican but keeping his stock of wines. He retained a small parcel to produce his Trousseau Cuvée Berangères, continuing until the 2017 vintage. After that, at the age of 72, he ceased production, though he will still release his Vin Jaune after its seven-year aging process. Known for his organic approach and meticulous vineyard care, Puffeney was a trailblazer, recognized alongside legends like Jean Macle and Pierre Overnoy.
Classic pale colour similar to pinot noir, a touch more weight and depth of fruit than poulsard, with mulberries, raspberries, a hint of spice and mineral cut. According to Jacques, you need to exercise a little patience - as the wine ages it picks up weight and length on the palate and is at its very best at five to six years old. For drinking now to 2026.
