Ansonica IGP Bianco, Cataldo Calabretta 2021
Cataldo Calabretta
Ciro’ (DOC) is the land of Gaglioppo grape and Cataldo Calabretta is the leader of a group of young winemakers working organically and with low intervention. This wine is from what Cataldo describes as his families most beautiful but challenging vineyard. The soil is poor and in summer the vine suffers drought, however, Cataldo believes it is this strain on the vine that lends concentration to the fruit.
Intense yellow almost golden colour, white flower aromas are most striking on
the nose at first, backed up by dried fruit and hazelnuts. On the palate it is quite a full bodied wine with great persistence especially thanks to the incredible salinity typical of the Ansonica grape and location.
