Weingut Knauss is a family estate in Strümpfelbach, in Germany's Württemberg region. Andi Knauss took over the family business in 2004 after training in Austria, where he developed his commitment to organic viticulture. Over time, he built the estate into a distinctive producer working with more than 100 vineyard plots across the surrounding Rems Valley. Following Andi's death in 2023, his wife Manuela and the team have continued his work, maintaining a philosophy centred on organic farming, spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention. The estate produces everything from straightforward, fruit driven wines to more experimental natural bottlings, with a particular emphasis on freshness and character rather than unnecessary cellar manipulation.

This Pinot Noir showcases the lighter, more delicate side of German Spätburgunder. A combination of whole bunch and destemmed fruit brings together freshness and structure, while fermentation with indigenous yeasts allows the fruit to develop with minimal intervention. Fermented on the skins for 15 days in oak barrels, the wine undergoes naturally occurring malolactic conversion before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result is an approachable, medium bodied red that prioritises fresh fruit and drinkability over heavy extraction or overt oak influence. Serve with a slight chill.
