Patrice Béguet is part of the Jura winemaking family headed by his father Hughes Béguet. While Hughes represents the family’s traditional domaine and classic style, Patrice has established his own project focused on natural, biodynamic practices and minimal intervention. Both work with native Jura varieties on limestone-rich soils, but Patrice’s wines often showcase a more experimental, expressive approach. Cuvées labelled Hughes Béguet reflect the family legacy, while those under Patrice Béguet highlight his distinct natural winemaking philosophy rooted in respect for terroir and sustainability.
Orange Was The Colour Of Her Dress 2022 is distinguished by its extended maceration on skins lasting several weeks, a process that draws out complex phenolics and tannins rare in Jura whites. Fermentation proceeds with indigenous yeasts without sulphur additions, embracing natural oxidative and reductive phases that lend layers of texture and aromatic depth. Aged exclusively in neutral vessels, this wine captures vibrant dried fruit, spicy citrus notes, and a pronounced saline minerality. The intricate skin contact and minimal intervention create a textured, tactile mouthfeel that balances power with finesse, showcasing the raw expression of Savagnin on limestone terroir.
