La Luna Blanc IGP, Bruno Duchene 2024
Bruno Duchene
Bruno Duchêne is one of the emblematic figures of natural wine in Roussillon. Originally from the Loire Valley, he moved south in the early 2000s, drawn by the rugged beauty and steep terraced vineyards of Banyuls. Working with ancient vines on schist soils near Collioure and Banyuls, he farms everything organically by hand, often with the help of a mule on the steepest slopes. Bruno is known for his sensitive cellar work with native yeasts, no fining or filtration, and little to no sulphur. His wines are beloved for their energy, balance and wild Mediterranean character, expressing both the intensity of the climate and the delicacy of his touch.
La Luna Blanc 2024 is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Macabeu and Vermentino from vines planted on black schist and gneiss. The vintage was sunny and dry, with just enough rain at the right moments to avoid stress and maintain freshness in the fruit. Grapes were pressed whole cluster and fermented in tank and old barrels with native yeasts. A short maturation on lees followed, bringing texture and savour. Bottled without fining, filtration or added sulphur, this is a pure and expressive white with notes of white peach, lemon zest, wild fennel and sea spray. It is silky, mineral and slightly waxy, offering a beautiful snapshot of Mediterranean terroir.
