Adrien Renoir represents the new generation of Champagne growers redefining Verzy’s Grand Cru terroir. Based in the Montagne de Reims, his family has been cultivating vines since the 1960s, though it was Adrien’s return to the domaine in 2014 that marked a turning point. Building on his father Vincent’s foundations, he converted the estate to organic and biodynamic viticulture, drastically reducing yields and focusing on site transparency. The domaine farms just under 7 hectares, primarily Pinot Noir, on Verzy’s chalk-rich slopes, many vines over 40 years old. Adrien works parcel by parcel, vinifying each with indigenous yeasts in barrel and employing minimal sulphur. His wines are bottled without fining or filtration and receive long lees ageing. The result is a collection of precise, textural Champagnes that honour Verzy’s deep chalk, its tension, and its elegant aromatic restraint.
Les 2 Terroirs Rosé Grand Cru comes from a blend of parcels in Verzy and Verzenay, both Grand Cru villages on the Montagne de Reims. The fruit is predominantly Pinot Noir, with a small proportion of Chardonnay, vinified partly as white and partly as red wine. Adrien employs gentle maceration for colour and tannin, fermenting with indigenous yeasts in barrel before extended lees ageing. This approach produces a rosé that is both poised and vinous, with delicate wild strawberry, pink citrus, and a saline edge reflecting the chalky slopes of Verzy and Verzenay.
