Château de Pibarnon sits high above the Mediterranean near La Cadière-d’Azur, commanding some of the most dramatic limestone amphitheatres in Bandol. The estate was established in the late 1950s but gained its reputation after being purchased in 1978 by Catherine and Henri de Saint Victor, who set about restoring the terraces and replanting with old Mourvèdre vines at high altitude. Their son, Éric de Saint Victor, now manages the domaine, continuing the focus on elegance, purity, and site transparency. Vineyards are farmed organically, and soils of blue Triassic limestone and marine marl promote deep rooting and balance. The winemaking philosophy is guided by patience and restraint, combining traditional Bandol structure with a remarkable sense of lift and refinement. Fermentations occur spontaneously, ageing takes place in large oak foudres, and minimal sulphur is used to preserve tension and longevity.

The Bandol Rosé 2023 is a blend of Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Grenache sourced from terraces between 200 and 300 metres above sea level. Grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed in whole bunches, with a portion of direct pressing and a small element of saignée to enhance structure. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel at low temperatures, and the wine rests on fine lees for several months before bottling. The style is precise and gastronomic rather than delicate, showing saline minerality, red citrus, wild herbs, and faint garrigue spice with a long, chalky finish.
