After a decade of winemaking in the Cahors region of South-West France and over 40 vintages across nine countries, Simon and Lauren have returned to New Zealand to craft wines under their own label, A Thousand Gods. Their vision is to create wines that are both site-reflective and uniquely expressive.
Collaborating closely with a biodynamic grower in Marlborough's Waihopai Valley, they use meticulously farmed, hand-picked grapes that undergo wild fermentation. Their winemaking philosophy avoids additions, fining, or filtration, focusing instead on thoughtful guidance to produce wines that are generous, approachable, complex, and cellar-worthy.
Lifted and perfumed Pinot with tonnes of dark forest fruits, roses and violets. There's concentration and character but also a deceptive delicacy and feather-weight elegance that keeps everything serious and at the same time approachable.
