Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most revered estates in Chambolle Musigny, celebrated for producing some of the appellation’s most precise and age worthy Pinot Noirs. Ghislaine Barthod assumed control of the family domaine in the 1980s and has since established a reputation for meticulous vineyard work and an unwavering commitment to expressing the individuality of each site. The estate farms an exceptional collection of old vine parcels across Chambolle Musigny, including holdings in several of the village’s most distinguished Premier Crus. Viticulture is thoughtful and exacting, with low yields, careful canopy management and an emphasis on achieving balance rather than excessive ripeness. In the cellar, winemaking is classical and restrained, relying on gentle extraction and measured oak usage to allow terroir to remain at the forefront. The resulting wines are renowned for their combination of perfume, structure and remarkable longevity.

Chambolle Musigny is assembled from several village level parcels spread across the appellation, drawing together a broad expression of the village’s limestone rich terroirs. Many of the vines are mature plantings, contributing depth and concentration while retaining the finesse for which Chambolle Musigny is famous. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by careful extraction designed to preserve aromatic purity and textural elegance. Élevage takes place in French oak barrels with a modest proportion of new oak, providing structure while maintaining transparency of fruit. The wine opens with aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry layered with rose petals, violets and subtle spice. Beneath the fruit lies a characteristic mineral thread, reflecting the limestone soils that define the appellation. The palate is supple yet precise, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, graceful finish that captures the perfume, delicacy and quiet power that have made Chambolle Musigny one of Burgundy’s most celebrated villages.
