Arnaud Lopez is a passionate winemaker based in Nuits Saint Georges whose journey began assisting at Prieuré Roch for over ten years before launching his own project, Maison Pinot Noar, in 2018. His approach marries a deep respect for Burgundy’s rich traditions with a modern curiosity for minimal intervention and expression of site. Lopez works vineyard by vineyard, hand harvesting organic fruit and embracing whole cluster fermentations. His winemaking philosophy centres on patience and precision, capturing the energy and nuance of each parcel to create wines that resonate with elegance and subtle power.
The Pinot Blanc grapes come from gently sloped vineyards with limestone rich soils that contribute to natural minerality and freshness. The 2023 growing season balanced warmth and freshness ideal for skin contact. Lopez performed 12 days of delicate skin maceration to extract texture and phenolic complexity, followed by native yeast fermentation in neutral vessels. Lees ageing with regular bâtonnage added creamy mouthfeel without compromising vibrancy. The wine reveals layered notes of pear, citrus zest, and chamomile with a fine tannic grip and a crisp mineral finish.
