Founded in 1970 by Marc Colin, the domaine spans 26 appellations in St. Aubin, where most of its 1er Crus are produced, as well as Santenay, Chassagne, and Puligny, including some Montrachet plots. Many of these parcels have been passed down through generations of the Colin and Ponavoy families, with some vines rooted in family history for over a century.

Today, the domaine is managed by Marc’s children, Damien and Caroline, following the establishment of their brothers Pierre-Yves and Joseph’s own projects in 2005 and 2017, respectively. Embracing a shift toward land-respectful viticulture, the winemaking has evolved to emphasize precision and clearer expressions of terroir. The use of new oak has been reduced in favor of larger barrels and foudres, which help maintain freshness and tension in the wines and allow for lower sulphur use by retaining more CO2.

Margot is a wine named after Caroline and Damien’s paternal grandmother. It comes from four parcels of vines averaging 35yo, planted on the lower slopes of the appellation in limestone-clay soils. Aged in 20% new oak barrels for 12 months and then given six months in cuve, this is rich and yet firm, with good structure and fine depth to the fruit.
