Guillaume Gilles is a small grower based in Cornas, in the Northern Rhône. After working alongside Robert Michel, one of the appellation’s most respected traditional producers, he established his own domaine in 2002, starting with a small parcel in the renowned Chaillot vineyard. Today, he farms around five hectares, including the higher-altitude Les Rieux vineyard. His approach remains traditional, with organic farming, whole-bunch fermentations, indigenous yeasts and ageing in older oak barrels and large casks. His wines combine the structure and savoury character of Cornas with pure Syrah fruit, fine tannins and freshness, reflecting a restrained approach to extraction and élevage.

A high-altitude Cornas from Guillaume Gilles, made from 100% Syrah planted between 2012 and 2014 in the Les Rieux vineyard, at 400–450 metres above the village. The vines grow on sandy, decomposed white granite, producing a fresher, more delicate expression of Cornas than his flagship Chaillot. The grapes undergo whole-bunch fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 months ageing in used 600L oak casks, without fining or filtration.

Red and dark berries meet violet, black pepper and subtle savoury spice. The palate is finely structured, with fresh acidity, supple tannins and a persistent granitic character. An elegant, energetic Cornas with good depth and ageing potential.
