Grégory Guillaume began making wine in 2011, having originally moved to the Ardèche to explore caves. A friend introduced him to viticulture, and before long he was growing grapes and making the wines he most enjoys drinking. His farming reflects a deep respect for nature and its role in creating balance in life. Today, Greg tends three hectares of organically farmed vines around Villeneuve-de-Berg and Alba-la-Romaine. Planted over clay and limestone, the vineyards teem with life and yield pristine fruit — the foundation for his style of winemaking.
In a modest shed on the edge of Villeneuve, Greg uses simple tools, a sure touch with texture and perfume, and a focus on purity to craft wines we return to again and again.
The grapes here come from a beautiful, remote plot of forty year old Grenache Noir. This saw a week of carbonic maceration before being pressed off to rest in cuve for just under a year. Luminous in the glass, this charming expression of the grape displays a wonderful purity of fruit, whilst a pleasant herbaceous note adds lift and intrigue.
