Georges Comte's home and cellar in Émagny, a quiet village in the Doubs, lie at the crossroads of Jura, Burgundy, and Alsace—though the area is often overlooked for wine. Since 1989, Georges has crafted wines from eight hectares of vines on the exceptional terroir of Le Moutherot, where clay and limestone soils yield wines with remarkable structure and longevity.
In his traditional cellar, Georges follows time-honored methods: aging wines in old barrels for at least two years, adhering to lunar cycles, bottling by hand, and avoiding filtration or additives. He only releases bottles when he believes they are ready.
His wines, unapologetically old-fashioned, develop slowly and reward the patient with a genuine taste of the past.
Delicate and nuanced, this carries all the hallmarks of Chardonnay from a cool vintage. A profound, yet subtle wine, it rewards the patient, revealing its layers of stone fruits, minerals and earth slowly in the glass.
