The Balivet family has been making wine in the village of Mérignat, in the Bugey region, for generations. Today, the domaine is led by Noël Balivet, who continues the family’s commitment to traditional methods and organic farming. Their specialty is Cerdon du Bugey, a naturally sparkling rosé made using the méthode ancestrale—a gentle, single fermentation that preserves freshness and low alcohol. Made from Gamay and Poulsard, Balivet’s Cerdon is vibrant, floral, and joyfully expressive, with delicate bubbles and a kiss of sweetness. It’s a wine of charm and heritage, handcrafted with minimal intervention and a deep respect for the land.
This gently sparkling rosé is crafted using the méthode ancestrale, preserving a natural sweetness and low alcohol. Bright, fragrant aromas of wild strawberry, cherry blossom, and crushed herbs lead into a frothy, fruit-forward palate with crisp acidity and a soft, cloud-like mousse. With just 7% ABV and no added sulphites, it’s an effortlessly drinkable, celebratory wine—refreshing, playful, and a beautifully pure expression of its alpine origin. Best served well chilled.
