Clément Robert, a fourth-generation vigneron, revitalized his family's Champagne estate in Landreville in 2019, naming it Champagne Léon in honor of his great-grandfather . Spanning nearly 8 hectares in the Côte des Bar, the vineyards are cultivated organically and biodynamically, featuring Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier, and Pinot Blanc . Clément's approach emphasizes minimal intervention: indigenous yeast fermentations, no dosage, and aging in a mix of oak barrels and stainless steel . His cuvées, such as Enchevêtrer and La Grande Côte, showcase the purity and minerality of the terroir, reflecting a commitment to producing expressive, terroir-driven Champagnes with elegance and depth.
La Grande Côte reveals fresh citrus and orchard fruit aromas layered with a fine mineral streak from limestone-rich soils. Sourced from carefully tended old vines, this cuvée is vinified with minimal intervention and aged on lees to develop depth and complexity. Its precise acidity and soft mousse balance a rich palate, capturing the purity and elegance of Domaine Léon’s unique terroir.
