Hugues Godmé is an independent grower‑producer based in Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. The estate is family‑run and has been farmed organically since 2006 with certification in 2013 and biodynamically since 2014. Hugues works closely with his daughter Lucille across around eight hectares of Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards including Verzenay, Verzy, Villers‑Marmery and Villedommange. Manual vineyard work, indigenous yeast fermentations and minimal intervention in the cellar allow the wines to express the character of each parcel with precision and clarity.
Les Champs Saint Martin 2013 is a Blanc de Noirs made entirely from Pinot Noir from a 1.09 hectare Grand Cru parcel in Verzenay. The vines were planted in 1986 on red clay over chalk soils. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented and aged primarily in oak barrels. The wine undergoes extended lees ageing in bottle for over eight years before being disgorged as a Brut Nature with no dosage, creating a precise, mineral‑driven Champagne with ripe red fruit and subtle spice, delicate mousse and a long elegant finish.
