Christian Boulanger and Matthieu Allante are Jura natives who spent more than fifteen years working alongside the Labet family before setting out on their own. Their small domaine brings together a collection of old vineyard parcels around Rotalier and Gizia, farmed biodynamically and approached with a distinctly hands off philosophy in the cellar. They favour spontaneous fermentations, old barrels and minimal additions, allowing the character of each site and grape variety to take the lead.
Pataratte is a distinctive parcel in Rotalier, where Gamay grows alongside Chardonnay and Trousseau on Jurassic limestone. It is an unusual home for the variety, giving this bottling a distinctly Jura identity rather than a familiar Beaujolais profile. Made with native yeasts and aged in old barrels, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration and with no added sulphur. Expect bright, crunchy red fruit, a lively freshness and a little wildness around the edges.
