Château Bois de la Gravette is a family-run estate rooted in the left bank of Bordeaux, with holdings in both Listrac and Moulis. The domaine has been in the hands of the same family for generations and is today overseen by siblings Camille and Romain. Their work reflects a new wave of Bordeaux growers who farm responsibly and bottle wines that highlight finesse and drinkability over excess and extraction. Farming is done sustainably with increasing attention to biodiversity and minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. The family has gradually shifted towards lighter touch winemaking, using wild yeasts and reducing their reliance on oak and sulphur to allow the Médoc’s terroir to show more clearly.
The 2020 Listrac is a classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from gravelly soils, with Merlot giving softness and Cabernet providing structure. The vintage was warm and early but punctuated by cooler nights, which helped preserve freshness and detail. Grapes were destemmed and fermented with native yeasts before ageing in mostly neutral French oak barrels. This is a deeply coloured but finely shaped wine with dark plum, dried herbs and cedar spice, finishing with graphite tension and a gentle tannic grip. A clean and honest expression of Listrac’s sturdy charm.
