Following the division of Domaine Bernard Moreau between brothers Alex and Benoît in 2021, Alex established his own domaine under his name. Based in Chassagne Montrachet, he continues a family tradition of winemaking while developing an increasingly individual style. His reds receive a proportion of whole bunches during fermentation and are aged in French oak, with an emphasis on preserving fruit purity and expressing the character of each vineyard. His small production and meticulous approach have quickly established him as a producer to watch in the Côte de Beaune.
Les Fremiers lies towards the southern end of Pommard, close to the border with Volnay. Sweet red berries, plum and floral aromas lead into a lively, concentrated palate, supported by powdery, assertive tannins and a fresh line of acidity. There is plenty of fruit at its core, but the savoury, spicy finish gives the wine a more serious side. A structured Burgundy with considerable ageing potential.
