Gilles Berlioz is a self-taught vigneron who has become a leading figure in Savoie's natural wine movement. Originally a landscaper, he and his wife Christine established their domaine in Chignin in 1990. Initially expanding to seven hectares, they later reduced the estate to approximately 4.5 hectares to focus on quality and sustainability. Committed to organic farming since 1999 and biodynamics since 2005, Gilles emphasizes minimal intervention to let the terroir express itself fully. His wines, such as the Chignin-Bergeron "Les Filles" and Mondeuse "La Deuse," are celebrated for their purity, energy, and reflection of the alpine landscape.
Crafted from 100% Jacquère grown on clay-limestone soils in Chignin, 'Cricri' offers a luminous straw-yellow hue with green highlights. The nose reveals delicate floral and spicy notes, while the palate is precise and light, showcasing luminous fruit flavors and elegant minerality. Hand-harvested from vines aged between 51 and 75 years, this wine undergoes fermentation in fiberglass tanks using native yeasts, followed by aging on lees for six months, resulting in a wine of finesse and smooth texture.
