Château Haut-Bergey is one of the most forward thinking estates in Pessac-Léognan, with a history dating back to the 15th century and a modern identity shaped by the Garcin-Lévêque family’s commitment to organic and biodynamic farming. Over recent years, the estate has moved towards a more ecological and terroir focused approach, encouraging biodiversity and restoring balance to the vineyard ecosystem. Located on the gravel and clay soils of Léognan, the domaine seeks to produce wines that express the energy and individuality of their surroundings rather than simply following traditional Bordeaux formulas. Vineyard work is carried out with meticulous attention, while the cellar focuses on precision, gentle extraction and allowing each parcel to retain its natural character.
4 Elements is a special cuvée that reflects Château Haut-Bergey’s philosophy of harmony between nature, vineyard and winemaking. Made from a carefully selected blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the wine combines the power and structure of Bordeaux with a more refined, contemporary expression of Pessac-Léognan. The grapes are hand harvested from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards before undergoing careful vinification and extended ageing in French oak barrels. The wine displays a complex aromatic profile of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum alongside violet, graphite, cedar, tobacco and subtle smoky notes. The palate is rich yet balanced, with fine tannins, mineral tension and a long, elegant finish that reflects the depth of the gravel soils and the precision of the estate’s modern approach.
