VdF Blanc, Domaine Leon Barral 2019
Leon Barral
Didier Barral, a man of conviction, began running the estate in 1990, in search of authentic expressions of its soil. Helped by his brother Jean-Luc, this obstinate winemaker has created a culture of fashion to respect the ecosystem, to promote interactions between the plant and animals and enhance immunity of the vine.
The result is an incredibly elegant full-bodied white with character, energy and complexity. The appearance is clear, med amber with a golden reflex.
On the nose needs a good 15mins to open up to reveal the notes of orange peel, dried apricot, hay, tropical fruits. The palate reveals a great freshness balanced well by the acidity, adding some initial citrus notes developing into more complex flavours as caramel, honey and candied citrus, a slight oxidation and a good minerality tingling in the mouth.
A special occasion wine.
