The 2024 growing season was cool and drawn out, with a late flowering followed by a long autumn that allowed Petit Manseng to reach phenolic maturity while retaining piercing acidity. Harvest took place in several selective passes from late October into November, with each pick targeting freshness rather than richness. The grapes were pressed slowly and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel to preserve aromatic clarity. Ageing remained reductive, with short lees contact and no oak influence. The wine is incisive and saline, driven by grapefruit, green pineapple, crushed stone and a distinctly bitter citrus finish typical of young Petit Manseng grown at altitude.

Origin Monein, Jurançon Sec, South West France

Grapes Petit Manseng

Vintage 2024

Alcohol 12.5%

Style Linear, saline, high acid, precise

Bottle size 75cl

Winemaking Organic farming, hand harvested in successive passes, slow pressing, native yeast fermentation in stainless steel, short lees ageing, minimal sulphur

Notes High altitude Petit Manseng, bitter citrus edge, mineral tension

Domaine Montesquiou is based in Monein, at the heart of the Jurançon appellation in the foothills of the western Pyrenees, where vineyards climb steep south facing slopes between 300 and 450 metres. The 2023 vintage was warmer and more generous than 2024, producing riper fruit while maintaining balance thanks to cool nights and strong mountain airflow. Harvest was carried out later than for L’Estela, with carefully timed passes to capture both concentration and acidity. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts in neutral barrels, followed by extended ageing on fine lees to build texture and complexity without masking site character. The wine shows greater breadth and depth, combining ripe citrus, quince, toasted almond and savoury spice, supported by firm acidity and a long, structured finish.

Origin Monein, Jurançon Sec, South West France

Grapes Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng

Vintage 2023

Alcohol 13%

Style Textural, structured, mineral, layered

Bottle size 75cl

Winemaking Organic farming, hand harvested in multiple passes, slow pressing, native yeast fermentation in neutral barrels, extended lees ageing, minimal sulphur

Notes Old vine concentration, lees depth, classic dry Jurançon structure
